Lisa Says Gah celebrates 11 years in fashion
Lisa Says Gah celebrates 11 years in fashion with a unique brand story, California stores, and a signature style that sparks joy.

Lisa Bühler created a fashion brand centered on the sound of joy. Eleven years ago, she launched Lisa Says Gah as an online shop for independent designers. Today, it operates as a full label with two physical stores in California, a distinct style, and a name that still makes people curious.
The sound of discovery
The brand’s name originated from Bühler’s own reaction to things she adored. “I say ‘Gah!’ when something excites me,” she explained. It began as a creative blog, then became her Instagram handle, and finally the business name. The concept was straightforward: build a space where others could experience that same burst of excitement when finding something special.
Bühler had years of fashion experience before starting the brand. She noticed a gap—no single place gathered all the independent designers she frequently recommended. So she created one. What started as an online destination for curated pieces slowly grew into its own collection, shaped by the same spirit of creativity and individuality.
From online shop to physical stores
Lisa Says Gah now operates two retail locations: one in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley and another in Los Angeles’ Echo Park. Both areas share a creative, independent atmosphere that matches the brand’s identity. Hayes Valley was an obvious choice—it’s where the brand began and where many loyal customers live. Echo Park, with its similar energy, was a logical expansion.
The stores were designed by Adi Goodrich to reflect the brand’s personality. They feature a playful, colorful aesthetic with Bühler’s signature palette—pasta yellow and Golden Gate red—and custom fixtures. The aim was to create welcoming, whimsical spaces that feel like entering the world of Lisa Says Gah rather than a typical clothing store. Bühler wanted the locations to have character.
She believes shopping should be inspiring, not stressful. The goal is for customers to leave feeling they’ve found something unique.

Staying true to the brand
In an industry often ruled by fleeting trends, Bühler has kept Lisa Says Gah focused on authenticity. The brand favors expressive, durable pieces over fast fashion.
This approach has cultivated a devoted following. For Bühler, seeing people incorporate the brand into their lives remains one of the most fulfilling parts of the business. She values that connection deeply.
Few labels achieve this in an industry where many either chase trends or disappear.
Future plans
Bühler plans to expand the brand’s collection and explore storytelling through events and partnerships. She also envisions new retail opportunities. “I want Lisa Says Gah to remain a place where fashion creativity thrives,” she said. “A space where people come for inspiration, not just shopping.”
The stores have evolved into community hubs. Whether online or in person, the mission stays the same: to recreate that initial spark of delight Bühler set out to share. Transforming spaces into sources of inspiration aligns with her vision of blending creativity and everyday life.
